For this project we were assigned to create our own typeface with an everyday material. Then we had to find a concept and setting that we wanted to portray our custom typeface.
I chose plastic silverware. :) It's natural that I chose a picnic scene.

Choco Choco Choco

Fair Trade Activity Book...a book that focuses on Fair Trade Cocoa Beans with a mix of Catholic Social Justice.

For this project, we were given texts, logos, and images to create an activity book for kids. You can go through this project at any angle. Some people went through it by E-mails...I just went with the text given.

Kitchen of Deliciousness (Meaning)

The Kitchen of Meaning poster project is basically a poster that's based on a word...my word was "metonymy."

Metonymy - a figure of speech consisting of the use of the name of one thing for that of another of which it is an attribute or with which it is associated (as “crown” in “lands belonging to the crown”)

My inspiration from the poster...came from the movie: You've Got Mail
Hahahaha...yea.

Warning: Critical Mass Overload!

Critical Mass Project...these may be different from my other classmate's due to the fact that a lot of students had Tuan and I had Daniel...but...here are the basic outcomes:

First up is the experimental scans. You use items to scan and mess around with on the scanner...then you have pictures that you either produce or obtain from the interwebz. Using the scans and images, you start combining them.

The story I used for the images is a Japanese Fairy Tale called: Ojizo-san

Scavenge and HUNT

Cell Phone ---> Mouse ---> Lamp

Sink ---> Bar Stool ---> GLASS!

The object of this project is to find six different objects that relate to each other or through a similar trait. Such as...

• the form of the cell phone relates to the form of the mouse,
• while the mouse and lamp relates to each other by it's silver paint.
• Then the lamp relates to the sink by having a something hanging from it's mouth
  (droplet to sink, as bulb to lamp head).
• Sink is shiny as the bar stool stand...
• The Bar stool stand has a round rim like...the glass!
  

Auriol

Type Specimen book: Typeface: AuriolHere is a Type Specimen book...that I'm really not proud of. But I chose a lovely typeface like Auriol. Auriol has elements of Asian features and brush strokes. I chose this typeface for it's aestheticness of it...I wanted to make the book have a Valentine's theme.

Personal Geography TRES

Cognitive map...
The Cognitive map is the map of your routine during the day...here is mine.
My concept in this map is a bit cartoon-ish with a video game element(status bars).

Personal Geography DEUX

Perceptual map...
The perceptual map is supposed to be a bit more abstract...it's a map of our senses of some sort. Here I use more of my hearing (music and background noises). The green represents how green the St. Edward's campus is (you know...all the trees and grass), and the colors of the music notes represents a form of my mood.
The blue-ish green shows how I'm still a bit drowzy, making things blend.
The red is more of stress, while the purple is relief.

The medium is a bit mixed: Water color, markers, and acrylic.

This map is to serve what our daily routes are...I made mine into a "Pirate Map" look.

Vector Symbols...a.k.a. ICONS

Symbol Methodology:

Basically, this project is about how to make symbols/icons using Illustrator and the brain storming process for them.

Illustrator Exercises

I took Graphic Design I in Spring '08...so I was a little bit out of line with the rest of the Graphic Design student(I was a head of them with credits). Also, the course in the spring is different than the one in the Fall. So I didn't do many of the same exercises, as they did...but I will attempt doing them now so I'm not left behind. Yay!

Illustrator Exercise:
1.) Use the pen tool
2.) Trace the Image as best as you can
Objective:
Practice drawing with the pen tool on illustrator...it will help in the future when you are making icons and such.
